Project Overview

Mom moved from Florida to be closer to her daughter, and they loved the location. What they didn't love was feeling like they were constantly on top of each other. Same house, not enough space to actually live separately in it.

The fix was converting the existing two-car garage into a brand new master suite built just for Mom. Bedroom, bathroom, and a fully organized closet, all designed around her wishlist: sleek surfaces, easy maintenance, and a space that actually feels spacious and inviting. Relaxing and zen were the words she kept coming back to.

The bathroom is the centerpiece. Marble tile, gold fixtures, a walk-in shower, and custom vanities with warm wood tones that feel clean and chic without feeling cold. The closet is fully built out with shelving and drawer stacks, a linen closet tucked just outside, and yes, a cat door built right into the entry.

The bedroom is bright and calm with natural light on two walls and real room to breathe.
Mom has a private retreat that feels completely her own. The daughter has her space back. Everyone wins.

I can’t say enough good things about DGK. From the first meeting to the final photos everything went smooth and was completed with care, kindness, and professionalism. The team takes the time to get to know you and understand how to create a space that reflects who you are but is also functional. We lived in our home during the entire construction process and there was not a single issue. They far exceeded my expectations from beginning to end!

Challenges & Solutions

Challenge One

Floating Bench with Glass Panel The glass enclosure had to wrap around a floating bench, which required exact measurements to ensure everything fit tightly without compromising the floating look.

Solution One

During installation, we had to slightly shave down the edge of a tile to get the panel in cleanly. In the end, we were able to seal the glass perfectly and maintain the clean floating appearance of the bench.

Challenge Two

Limited Clearance Between Soil and Framing In the bathroom, there wasn’t much room between the top of the soil grade and the bottom of the framing. This raised concerns about moisture getting into the structure.

Solution Two

To prevent moisture issues, we installed a waterproof barrier on the underside of the joists. This created a protective layer that helped keep the framing dry and protected.
