Project Overview

When our clients first reached out, they talked about what home really meant to them, long afternoons spent outside, grandparents visiting on the weekends, and the kind of moments that usually happen between the kitchen and the backyard.

But their existing deck made that connection hard. There wasn’t a true place to gather, only a small step from inside to out, with no real space to linger or enjoy the view of their yard year-round.

So, we reimagined it completely. We removed the existing deck and built a new, fully enclosed sunroom that flows seamlessly from the kitchen, a light-filled space where they can enjoy the changing seasons without ever stepping outside. Next to it, we added a new side deck for those perfect Carolina evenings when they do want to be outdoors.

Now, their home has both: a cozy, climate-controlled sunroom for morning coffee and quiet conversation, and a spacious deck for barbecues and family gatherings. The new addition ties in beautifully with the original architecture, every window frame and door height perfectly aligned making it feel like it’s always belonged there.

A space built for connection, designed for every season.

We loved working with the team. This family run company goes the extra step to treat their clients like family too. They listened to our design ideas and made improvements to make our sunroom better than we could have imagined. They spend time on the initial design and plan which we found helpful so we knew what to expect. Once they started physically working on the space, it was enjoyable to watch yet be completely hands off. They are detail oriented and even noticed minor imperfections which they pointed out themselves and then fixed. The entire project felt seamless and we can’t wait to work with them again

Challenges & Solutions

Challenge One

Protecting the Landscaping During Construction Access Since the addition was at the back of the house, we had to create a path for equipment and materials that wouldn’t damage the landscaping.

Solution One

We laid down rubber mats to create a clean, protected route. We cleaned them at the end of each day to minimize any mess. While there was still some minor touch-up landscaping needed, the overall impact was minimal and the end result looked great.

Challenge Two

Trees and Bushes Blocking the Access Route Several trees and bushes around the existing deck were blocking our access path to the back.

Solution Two

It was decided that all the trees and bushes in that area would be removed. We handled that first, then took down the existing deck to make room for the new addition. This made the rest of the process much smoother.
